A Greek myth tells of Amaryllis who wanted to win the affection of Alteo, a shepherd, with advice from the Oracle of Delphi she walked to Alteo's house for 30 days while piercing her heart with an arrow leaving a trail of blood. From the blood sprang up beautiful flowers which she gathered up and gave to Alteo who was enamoured by the beauty of the flowers as well as Amaryllis herself.
The artwork is a collage made by hand in my studio using a selection of found papers. Carefully scanned and colour matched to perfectly show the textures and colours of the original work. Archival quality digital print on textured 225gsm watercolour paper.
